Life Post-Potter

I am blessed to have a husband who didn't want to read Harry Potter until I made him get through the first two books.  It has worked out quite well actually, he's been reading them and often we sit on the couch and read them to each other--watching his facial expressions, answering (sometimes) his questions, and having discussions about the Potter characters' development makes me feel like I'm reading them for the first time all over again.  Molly was right, an un-Potter-ed husband is the next best thing you could to do obliviating yourself.

Well, I was a bit sad about not being able to see HP 7 Part Deux until Lawry finished the books (he's not allowed to watch movies before having read the book--the better for his imagination), that was until my sister sent me a message asking about tickets to see HP in BCS!  It was great to see the end of the Harry Potter series with her.  She was the one who started me on the books!  She got Sorcerer's Stone for Christmas one year and not too long after, we were both hooked and attending midnight releases for the books.  It was sweet to end and begin Harry Potter with her, we spent the afternoon after watching the movie talking about our favorite characters, our favorite scenes from the movie, favorite moments from the books... I loved it!  Then we ended a sweet day with some banana bread baking.

Also, for those of you who didn't know yet... that's the wife chop!  Lawry told me I looked "older," and by that he meant I look "my age!"

Re-Growth

Mrrrr and I went to the Hill Country to float the Comal Rio with our good friends the O'Herberts, Tara, Rejy and Lindsey.  It was hot as Hades... so Lawry and I went to Faust, the New Braunfels brewery, to sell our souls to the Devil in exchange for some AC.

Then, we had dinner at the Gruene Gristmill.

It is wonderful to be back in Texas and rekindling old friendships.

E'rrytime I go to the grocery store, I walk past the meat and seafood section looking for this magical sticker: "REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE."  I adorĂ© vous you, REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE.  It is so le cheap and so long as I get whatever I bought into a zip-lock that day same day, I can toss it in the freezer and it's good for months.  I bought some pre-seasoned pork kebabs a little while back and we figured a few days before Venezuela's birthday would be as good a time as any to have a little grill out.

The Lawster and his GOOD EATS.  Looking forward to using that thing many times in the eternality of a Texas summer.  It'll definitely make it easier to bear the rainless days.

In other news, I'm still looking for gainful employment, not just employment.  I'll skip on down to Starbucks or other nearby places if the gainful part falls through.  I interviewed at one of the local high schools last week.  I should hear back from them next week.  I think I'm learning a lot about provision.  I guess it doesn't necessarily mean exactly what I want it to mean.

New Braunfels this weekend!

Patron Saints

Whew... I am BEHIND on this blog bidness.

Well, Russell and I went to Houston almost two weekends ago to visit our old Spades buddies Blake, David and their dog-child, Emma.  Much to our sweet surprise, they were also in possession of their foster-pup, Puppykins.  Her other name is Lizzy... they are taking my children's names slowly but surely.

Mr. Lawry and I don't want a dog, but we want her.  And, we'll rename her.
THEN...
We honored the patron saints o' brewskis at St. Arnolds.  We selected our favorite fermenterrrrrrr.

I would have drank to St. Michael Jackson, but I had already drank all my summer ale...

Love these two.

Packing for the river,

PS - I'm trying out some new stuff in Photoshop... bear with me... :\
