Barbershop Conversations

During our engagement (< marriage), Lawry was going to the local SuperCuts or whatever to get his hair cut about every 2 months or so.  Boys' hair grows fast.  Or perhaps it is more noticeable and thus needs to get cut more often.  I'm learning so much.  Well, we decided that we would register for hair clippers and that way I could just cut his hair for freebies and we would save $15 every two months or so.

Yesterday was the big day.  I was totally jittery calm and not nervous at all, which made Lawry feel relaxed and assured.

First, I did a practice round with a "6." Woot!
He is the cuterest.

Then,  I had cut to around the ears.  Lawry has big ears.  They are endearing, but you know, still on the goofy side.  Long story short, I cut too much from around his left ear... BUT, his left ear is still in one piece.
Eek. Sorry? I lobe you. Ha!

Finally, we got to our final length, a "5!"  It was going to have a different length on top and bottom, but Lawry liked the all-over sameness look.

Finished!

While we were doing this, Lawry insisted on having a barbershop conversation.  He asked me about where I was from, how I got into haircutting...

Wambrano Wedding Pictures (ALMOST)

Lately, I've been trying to get myself out of a self-pity funk... 'cause really, I have nothing to be pitiful about.  I have a wonderfully red-headed husband, I have a strong, loving family, I have great deep friendships that bless me day-in and day-out, and I have a home and good food to eat.  Living in College Station is getting bettah bettah bettahhhhhh everyday, and I think we're really close to finding a place to live!  I'm still looking for trabajo and praying that something good will turn up soon.  You can pray too if you like ;)

Pictures of the future Wambrano Abode are forthcoming (fingers crossed!), and the wedding images are DEFINITELY coming soon.

Baking to keep the stir-crazy at bay,

@ Kate Leverenz, thank you :)  We adored the pictures and the viewing treats (maybe Lawry was a little lightheaded and my face felt really warm after we finished the treats... je ne sais pas...)

Peanuts and Crackerjacks

Lawry and I joined the Rey Rey ALL-STARS out on the party deck for the Brazos Valley Bombers game last night.  The fine grilling was superb and Lawry introduced me to all of his work buddies.  Slowly and surely getting used to this return to the BCS.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica... good coffee, good beaches, good food, good people...

Due to some changes we had to connect in Miami instead of making the direct flight, but since I have been to Miami 18 times throughout my life, I knew just the airport eatery to bide our layover time.  I hearts La Carreta (it's in terminal D either gate 6 or 36, not very specific, I know).  I lost a tooth there once when I was 7 years old.  I almost always get the ropa vieja with plantain and rice.  Tummy delight.

My "When in Miami" meal...
Once in CR, we stayed here...
We worked on our fear of heights...
Enjoyed the wonders of passion fruit...
Saw some animals in the national park...
And OUTSIDE their habitat...
Applied ample amounts of sunscreen...
Ate delicious pizza and drank ice cold coconut water...
Pretended to be the Beatles with our ponchos...
Won and lost at foosball...
Exhibited our daring side, and got over some more fears...
Took the obligatory honeymoon picture with our seafood dinners...
And THROUGHLY ENJOYED our honeymoon :)

We're back in CS now and marriage is GRRRRREAT.  Living in CS is hard and taking some getting used to, but Lawry is helping.

Twenty-somethings

Officially in my mid-twenties and I think it came at the perfect time.  Twas my first married birthday, which is odd, because you wake up and someone IMMEDIATELY wishes you a happy birthday.  For those of us who love birthdays, this is MAGICAL.  Lawry told me I had to take extra long in the shower and that I could not step out into the main living area of Chez Wambrano.  But, when I did, I found...

BIRTHDAY DECOR! And a partially dressed hubbo, who had been making:
Birthday (pan)Cake(s)! Complete with candles and hat.

Rusty got up at 4 am to decorate the eating nook and he had been secretly blowing up balloons in his car and storing them in his trunk all week long.

This wasn't all though... we had been planning on my parents coming into town, but when they didn't the Mrrrrr went into stellar by-the-seat-of-his-pants mode.  We went antiquing in downtown Bryan, so I went up to the counter to purchase these in honor of the new addition to my last name.

(LETTERPRESS! backwards like Da Vinci)

As I was purchasing, the shop-owner says to me:

"This a good find! And it's your birthday today, too isn't it?"

My facial expression response to her can be summed up with these words:  "What t-shirt am I wearing? Does it say birthday on it?  Do I smell like birthday?"

Rusty had told them to wish me a happy birthday, because I often joke that everyone everywhere is celebrating my birthday.  It was the best.

Getting used to the new name (more on that later),
