7 Months Left

I just got my wedpage emails reminding me I have 7 months left 'til the Wambrano Love Spectacular. My first thought?

"Oh, shit."

But, it was shortly followed by, "Wow... 7 months! Just a little over half a year!"  I think my second response somewhat balances my initial thought? Whatever, I don't care if it does or not, there's a lot of wedding planning, thesis writing, teaching, and reading to do and they are all take up more than their fair share of time!  In healthy news: Put the bookmarks in your pages, drop your writing pens, and pause your researching 'cause LAWRY ARRIVES THIS WEEKEND!  In his honor, I will write three pages of response paper riff-raff in order to stay caught up on my work :)
Also, I started volunteering at a local organic foods pantry here in town two hours every week...

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Waiting for Lawry (not Godot... oh my gosh, put your NERD shields on...),

Your Typical M.O.B.

 Well, hey there Fall...

Fall started... kind of a while ago and kind of early, but the roomie and I went on a hike at a nearby Maple, Oak, and Beech (the MOB, I learn something new everyday, whew!) forest.  I'm glad to get out before it's all gone and winter starts threatening more intensely.  Well, bloggies, I'm sorry for my absence, what have y'all been up to this wonderful month?  I have been:
reading, writing, teaching,
attending a few operas,
taking short day trips to Nashville, IN and Columbus, IN for shopping,
really, really frustrated with my etudiantes,
really pleased with a few of them,
baking and cooking lots of fall recipes(!),
missing Lawry, family, friends,
running regularly really early in the morning, so it's flippin' freezin'
AND...
trying to loosen coffee's vice grip on me!
I never thought I'd see the day, but for serious folks, I'm on day quatro sans cafĂ© (and only two cups of tea)! I feel like my body is detoxing, which is kinda cool in a super hipster sort of way, but, and I'm not trying to be dramatic, I'd rather get hit in the stomach with a fastball from Cliff Lee (RANGERS! WORLD SERIES!).  Speaking of Rangers, when I was young my dad used to take my sister and me to baseball games and we would get ice cream in the helmet cups, it is one of my favorite memories.  Then, I found out that the Rangers weren't that good and hardly ever won stuff.  I was devastated, kind of like the devastation one experiences shortly after buying ice cream and the topmost scoop topples off the cone.  But, now, I'm so excited they are playing in the World Series... vair vair cool.

Counting down the days to Lawry's arrival (you should too because that means I'll blog again shortly after his trip),

The Age of Adz

Dear Sufjan Stevens, thank you for recreating fall for me this year.  I didn't know if I would like you+autotune, but half-way through the first listen through, I was sold.  Dear NPR, thanks for Ira Glass, he is like a preacher, but not, also thanks for your free previews of full CDs all the way to their release date.  Dear bloggies, check out Sufjan, then learn to pronounce his name and then teach me to say it, I always get it wrong.

Listening and Resting (finally!),
MJ
