CONGRATS Davids and my besties!

Everyone is engaged!! Congrats loveys!

I used to be hip, cool and with it...

Yesterday, the PINK! Nation came to visit IU and put on a concert with some famous musicians and people.  My students were talking about it, and they were talking about this DJ, and this girl from The Hills, and some girl on Gossip Girl.  Those aren't things I was really ever into (DJ mixes, The Hills or Gossip Girl, blah), but I had no idea who the famous visitors were.  When I asked all these questions, they just sort of answered and explain why these people are famous.  I felt the need to assure them that I am normally pretty good with pop culture, they gave me a nice smile and then took off (class was over).  In any case, I realized grad school has made me (somewhat) uncool!  Ha! Well, I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with my knowledge of pop culture in Mexico in the 60's and 70's.

Listening to hip(pie) music,

Out at Hesitation Point, Brown County State Park

A cold per base.  Out at the amphitheater.

Russ has gotten so good at this!

Russell came to visit me!  Oh how I wish Texas was in Indy!  If I could move Texas northeast...

Festa no Brasil!

Rio do Janeiro 2016! I want to learn Portuguese and go to Rio '16!  Ah, beaches, soccer, sun, dancing, hammocks!  Quite the opposite of my life here, which recently has involved rain, cold, and lots of studying... oh, woe!  Well, I started teaching and I love it, I absolutely love it.  Teaching mathematics, ah, yes!  I really enjoy it, does it create a mini-life crisis of sorts?  Yes, a little bit.  But I'm not worried about it.  In fun news, Rusty comes to Bloomington in less than a week! Yay!

In for serious news, God is good.  Very good.  Life is hard, but God is good.

Peace from the Middle West,
MJ

Oh there's just a tad more, I found out I agreed(ish) with Rush Limbaugh on something, WHOA.  Well, I don't know how much I agree with him, I heard a quote and I agreed with it, but I didn't hear the rest of what he said, so maybe we don't really agree.  Which would make me feel better, but oh well.

Rushy said "[The Nobel Prize] is an attempt to handcuff Barama (what I think should be Obama's nickname) to a decision on Afghanistan."  From some of the Nobel's Foundation's history, this is probably true.  They are a private organization and they can do whatever the heck they want.  I'm okay with that, and I'm okay with people wanting the US president to pursue peace.

Also, Rush is a judge for the Miss America pageant this year.  Don't know why I know so much about Rush this week.  Too much conservative on the brain, probably going to go watch a Michael Moore doc now.
