God Gave Us DAVE.

And there I was, thinking, "I'm so busy studying this month; I don't think I'll have anything interesting to blog about unless there is an uproar to hear my thoughts on sex tourism in the Caribbean (anyone, anyone? Buehler?)."  So, I had given up on April blogging.  I also didn't think I'd get a chance to get out with my camera (who should have a name).  But, then THIS happened...
Dave Freaking Barnes. I have enjoyed his music since it was introduced to me and I have thought he was adorable and funny since the very first show of his that I attended (I don't care how many times I hear the "Is it because you are obese?" joke. It still kills me).  However, on Monday I learned he is also vair vair dreamy.

Anyway, the above picture has two stories: A) What happens when you don't have a point-and-shoot and you give people your camera (but, I'm extremely grateful to my picture taker), and B) The tale of how I am still a 11 or 12 year old child.  I'm going to tell story B.

I came home on Monday afternoon ready to write a page of my book review, but before really doing that, I had to check FB and stuff. On my homepage, I saw a Dave status saying that they needed emergency merch help for the show in Bloomington.  I had been wanting to go to the show, but I didn't know who I would go with, and I didn't want to pay to go by myself.  So I figured it was wiser to stay home.  But, if you work merch, you get in for free and junk! So I sent an email, just to see if they still needed people, and clearly they did, so I went.
The show was great, Dave was good, funny, and all of the things you normally get from a Dave show.  I got my free gift for working merch, a DVD of Dave's comedy routine in Nashvegas that I'm planning on watching this summer. It's entitled, "I talk. You Laugh (I hope)".  You all should enjoy my gift with me in May. After getting my gift, I headed over to meet Dave.

At some point while I was waiting in the crowd to talk to him, my brain and mouth reverted to the speaking abilities of a child.  I was unaware of this transition, but the bubbling excitement should have clued me in to my intellectual regression.  So, when Dave came up to me and said, "Well, hey, how are you doing?" All I could say back was:

"Uhmm, ha, Haahiiii Dave! Um, I was just wondering, if I-- Um, could I get a picture with you?" Insert ridiculous smiles and slight laughter, wherever you think they would be appropriate.

Not that I had pictured what I would say to Dave if I met him, but if I had, I would have sounded more like an adult.  Then we took a picture and I smiled like a goof for the rest of the evening.

Welp, I did have something to blog about in April after all. :)

Writing that book review,
MJ

P.S. Lawry, don't worry, you are dreamy, too :-P

It's like that one episode of FRIENDS where...

It's funny how many life instances remind people of Friends, some of the top ones in my life?

1. The one when Phoebe gives Monica a massage...normally happens when I'm with Blair, cause she is so darn good at giving massages!

2.The one with the apothecary table...anytime I see a Pottery Barn or a PB magazine, or a flea market. or the word "yore."

3. This one is a first timer: the time Phoebe is mad at Ross, but she can't remember why.

How did this last one happen to me? Well, somehow, in my head, I invented that I had said something on my friend Holle's Facebook wall, and the next day I checked FB and she had deleted my post! I figured that I had said something insensitive on Holle's wall and she was therefore a little irked with me.  So, I call her to apologize for posting something on her wall, I couldn't remember what I had said, but I figured I had been super-insensitive because I hadn't even given it enough thought to remember it.  I call her and say as much and she says, "Umm, you didn't write on my wall this week, did you create this whole story in your head? ARE YOU OKAY? ARE YOU STRESSED?"  Needless to say, I felt silly.  Like Pheobe must have felt :)  Thankfully, Holle is hilarious and shared awkward stories about her life with me.  I felt better about my silliness instantly.

Holle, it was TOO easy to find a picture of you that captured why you are so cool :)

Just be patient 'til spring!

Just in case you've forgotten what spring is like. But, of course, mon bloggees live in Texas or the tropics.  So, you've practically got spring all year round.  In any case, something to remind us of what awaits...just a little over a month!

Also, inspired by Moollay's list, I am making list of my own.

Some AWKWARD instances in my life:

1. People check my left hand now and tell me about it.  This isn't awkward in it of itself (I do it to people with serious boyfriends), I'm just awkward, so it makes me nervous...visibly.

2. Impostor syndrome.  It's real, but the awkward thing about it is that you have to say stuff in class and submit questions and junk, but I feel like a phony (thanks Holden) so I always get REALLY hot and red when I talk in class.  My heart races a little bit (read: a lot bit), and then I get nervous and sometimes say too much (about nothing) in class.  Sometimes class is no fun.  But, perhaps if I spent more time reading and less time blogging, I'd be better off? Nooooo....

3. I sometimes touch people too much when I talk to them.  This can be particularly awkward for people that DON'T touch people when they talk.

4.Today some solicitor or whatever came and took pictures of me and my students while I was meeting with them.  It was awkward.

5. I decided I'm not the HUGEST fan of winter.  This isn't awkward, it's just something I wanted to share.  It's mini-blizzarding again today in Bloomie.

This is what shows up on my dashboard when it's blizzarrrddddingggg outside.
